Default List of Forum Rules

Somewhere within the forums, we need a list of the rules. Especially rules about links to other websites, and rules pertaining to spam and advertising.

I don't know that a set of rules is needed. As Admins and Mods, I see us as judges, not policeman. No one should need a set of rules or even a reminder to know they are in public using resources that someone else is paying for and that they should behave decently.

If there are rules then it becomes a game to get around the rules. Rude people, especially spammers, are not interested in following rules out of good conscience to be polite.

Obviously anyone advertising off-topic is just going to be banned. They don't even really want to be here. The expense and maintenance of the board is not being made for their benefit and they know it.

It may happen that someone shares their experience and provides a link or mention of another site to be sincerely helpful. Any link or reference to another site is advertising, but a link or mention like that may be tolerated. But not always. We will make a judgment.

And, for example, someone could be banned from babbling on-and-on in post-after-post in broken english. Basically spamming the board with nonsense. It hasn't happened, but that kind of pollution wouldn't be tolerated.

If we judge a poster should have a warning then he gets a warning. If we judge the poster should be banned then he gets banned. If we judge the post is ok with modifications then we make the modifications.
