    Microsoft Windows:

Windows Button + E: Opens Windows Explorer
Windows Button + R: Shortcut to open the Run window.
Shift + Delete: Deletes files without having them go through Recycling Bin.

These are some shortcuts I use on a daily basis.

I use the text editing shortcut keys a lot:
    Shift-Arrows - to select text
    Ctrl-C - copy selection
    Ctrl-X - cut selection
    Ctrl-V - paste selection

    But what's great is:
    Ctrl-Z - to undo
    Ctrl-Y - to redo

which also come in handy in succession for positioning me back to where I was editing in a large document after I've scroll-bar'ed to somewhere else.

Although these shortcuts are nothing fancy, they are nearly universal.
