Help in specifying for photo editing.

I want to build a fast pc for photo editing. I may have multiple apps open at one time and will be working with large RAW files. I want a computer with "legs" to last five years before I have to do this all over again. I'm cost insensitive within reason. I won't be gaming, just crunching alot of numbers. Please be specific in your recommendations for the components. Also, if you have any suggestion for a 22 or 24in display, I'd like to hear them.
