I have put together the following: Intel E6750 CPU on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DSR3 motherboard, 2x1gb Crucial memory, 3 Samsung HDDs and a Pioneer DVD. All powered by a Corsair VX 450 PSU and in a Lian Li PC-7B case.

All went together very easily until switch on then the fans work but no monitor signal at all and no beeps.

Now I think the problem may be very basic. I have of course connected the PSU to the motherboard using the 2 x 12 pin power connector but not the seperate 2 x 2 pin connector.

I thought the latter was unnecessary with a core2duo cpu (my first source of info suggested this was only with older cpus) but the MB manual does not make this distinction and suggests the second 12volt source is necessary.

I'd be grateful for clarification on this. It seems silly to get stuck on such a basic point.

Thanks for your help

James

You should definitely connect the other adapter to the motherboard. :)
