Goal: faster rendering of processor-hungry 3D animation design work. I've been told that higher video capability (going from 256 to 512, from GeForce 8500 to 8800, etc) is not so vital for complex render speeds. Rather: pour $ into CPU and RAM. True?

Also: I've heard that 8GB RAM may not be fully usable by some OS. Can XP benefit by 8GB RAM?

I'll value your suggestions.

I believe you can only use up to 3 gigs of ram max with XP . I think I read that here somewhere .

XP 32bit can't use more than 3GB.
