I have recently installed Vista on a new rig. Once installed I was worried that I hadn't set up any partitions. Vista permits this by allowing you to "shrink" what partitions there are to make room on the drive for more. It 's a simple right clik option just like renaming a partition in XP. It will format the new partition to the file system you choose.
This feature isn't avail on XP and it gave me the opportunity to partition my HD how I wanted. Vista takes up 10 .6GB.
