HA I BUILT MY OWN COMPUTER YAY !!! (im technology retarded so im dam proud of myself)
now only problem is iono how to start it :p

i turned on the computer everythign is fine but it sends me to a black screen and says insert a boot floppy ?????(:eek: wth does that mean ?!?!?)

oh and btw can a computer operate without a floppy drive and can i boot the computer with out one? (cuz i didnt buy one figured its kinda ancient and has no use)


if someone can help me out itd be great and much appreciated thx

Yeah computers can run fine without a floppy.

Is there any error code ect?

nope no errors i havent installed anything yet i have a motherboard chipset cd but when i put it in it asks me select 1 2 3 or

1 create raid 32 but
2 create raid 64 bit
3 dos

i didnt get it thats when i quit and came here to post :D

whats os ??

well imma describe exactly what happens when i start

it shows logo of the mother board and the computers spec *beep*
more random stuff
then sends me to all black screen with grey words saying

reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key


i put in the cd that came with the mother board it says mother board chip set on it

1) JMICRON JMB32bit RAID DRIVER
2) JMICRON JMB64bit RAID DRIVER
3) FREEDOS COMMAND PROMPT

select 1 - 3

i dunno what to select because iono what anythin means and if i select 3, it says.

When you turn on the computer, keep pressing delete, this will take you into the Bios.

Then configure the Bios (refer to the manual) set to boot from the optical drive and insert the Operating System.

Put your Windows XP or Vista or whatever Operating System (OS) disk you are using into the CD drive, and turn on your computer. It should say "Press any key to boot from CD...". Press the "any" key. :/

where is the any key ?!?!? cant find it :mad:

well i tried to install the OS it and it wouldnt install, it formats the drive then says

Setup cannot access the cd containing th windows xp installation files.

to retry press enter it you are not successful after several tries, quit setup then, restart setup, copy the windows xp installation files to your harddisk.

and thx for helping me out

Hmm, thats quite weird...

Have you tried copying the windows XP installation files to your HD like it suggests?

i cant get into the desktop screen to get into the cd drive to cop and paste to hd
