The idea of building an affordable, upgradable super gae computer sounds great. Before I do it I'd like to tinker with my present system. I'd like to use it as a buffer (firewall router) for the game computer I hope to build over the next year.
It's Gateway 450 and has:
Pan 1.44 MB floppy Rev 3
IBM 7200 13.6 GB ATA/66 Hard drive
250 MB 3.5 Iomega Zip
127 MB 100Mhz 64 bit 4 clock CL Sdram unbuffered Dimm x2
Tele[path 56 K PCI modem
Pan DVD IV DVD Rom
200 watt power supply
Jabil 440 BX motherboard
Intel Pentuim III Katmai 450 MHz CPU
Creative labs Audio PCI 64D Digital Sound card.
Unknown graphics card.
Is this usable as a firewall-router?
I'm planning on upgrading the memory, CPU (750 pent III), HDD (4 180 MB at Raid 0+1) and installing a PCI raid board.
I figure this will help me gain the skills to build a solid upgradable game computer. What are your expert opinions?
Thanks in advance?
