Firewire download problem

Hi

After building a PC (Intel E6750 with Intel DG33BU mobo) I tried downloading video from my Mini DV cam through the Firewire. The PC has Vista Home Premium OS. The PC did not even detect the camera. Opened Moviemaker and tried to import from the camera and it gave the message that the camera was not detected.

When I tried it on my laptop with Xp Home the camera was detected automatically and downloaded the video.

Is it a hardware problem or with the software? How to check it out?

On Device Manager the Firewire port is showing 'working properly'.

Any clues?

Well I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination.. So I will just say that Vista has a LOT of problems with drivers, and if it works on XP then it doesn't sound like its the hardware..

But I'll wait for the real experts to tell you wether or not I'm right.. ;)
