I'm making the jump to Intel from AMD.

I've been reading everything I can on different MB's and can't make up my mind. I like to dabble in overclocking, game, and of course surf. I'll start with a dual core processor, but don't want to spend more than $150 on a board.

Enlighten me....:D

Thanks,
Archer

One of the best Intel boards out now is the Gigabyte P35C and it can be has for $139.99 on newegg.

Supports DDR2 and DDR3 memory for upgradeability when DDR3 memory becomes the standard.

It also supports the upcoming 45nm Penryn cores from Intel.

If your jumping from AMD make sure your getting a Core 2 Duo or a Core 2 Quad.

Good luck.

I have 'G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800'. It's not on the list. Will this mem not run?

That memory will run fine.

On newegg though, you can get Corsair XMS2 2GB for $47 and its probably one of the best kits available, its gaming ram and at the price its too good to pass up.

In the UK, that memory is about £50 == $100 :O

Another question .... how would an E4000 series chip run on the P35C board?

Thanks.

They would run very nicely on one of these boards.

How about the E2100 series. :D

Here's what I'm doing.

Current system

NF7-S
Athlon 2500+ black
ati 9600 128 mem
512 sys mem

Time to make a change.

GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R
EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 Allendale ?
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

I'm trying to do this on a budget. I chose the MB for upgradeability. I know the other components are 'not' near the top of the list. :D

Trying to decide on a cpu.
