In Rob's assembly instructions it states that when you are doing the first boot, to enter the BIOS and load the fail safe defaults.
Is it necessary to do that, I was going to get all the settings it has before I load the fail safe defaults so I can see what it changes.

Fail safe defaults don't change that much. It just resets any overclocking, changes the boot order to default and a few other things.
The reason Rob suggests that is in case the manufacturer has made any changes, which is highly unlikely, but better safe than sorry. :)
The reason I include that step is to get the BIOS settings to a known good state. They could be out of whack for your needs for any number of reasons. But if you'd rather do otherwise then just proceed with caution.

No that makes good sense, I am curious to see what it changes so will make a note of the changes it makes.
