Onboard Wi-Fi

I was looking at 2 motherboards that are almost the same but one difference is that one of them had Wi-Fi already on it. I was just wondering if its worth getting the motherboard with the Wi-Fi-AP or just getting the other one.

And I will be using the internet on my new build so what should I do in terms of a connection from my already existing modem?

Also, I was trying to decide between the Asus P5K-E with wi-fi or the asus P5k E without the wi-fi

Do you use wireless router at the moment?

And if the WIFI version isn't that much more expensive, go for it, its always good to have little extras like that.

I was planning on getting a wireless router after the build,

and the difference in money between the boards is about $15,

also, my original modem is in the basement and I might put my new build in my room which is 2 floors up so do you think that the connection will suck?

If the difference is only $15 go for it.

And for the range and all the walls, the connection would probably suck for that distance.

Just buy a huuuuge network cable and thread it up the stairs.

I have a 25m cable that stretches from my router, up two floors to my room. :D

You can get them upto 300m mate :eek: :D

Look on the net you should be able to pick up a 50m cat5e cable for around $25.

I would get a long cable but I just found out that my mom wants me to keep the comp in the basment anyways, lol -- something about too much radiation in my room :)

lol, its colder in the basement anyways and less dust because of no carpet :)
