Following a reccomendation bty Jamie I am goiung for a EVGA 8800 GT.

Now looking around you can get the Crysis, but the only extra you are getting with that is the game. £205, same spec as the £193 except for the game !

The two I'm looking at are:-

A - EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail. 600MHz Core, 512MB 1800MHz GDDR3 Memory, 112 Stream Processors, SLi Ready, 10yr Warranty with EVGA Direct. £176 Overclockers

B - EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Superclocked GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail. 650MHz Core, 512MB 1900MHz GDDR3 Memory, 112 Stream Processors, SLi Ready, 10yr Warranty with EVGA Direct. £193 Overclockers

Is B worth the extra money, or is the top one good enough. Or is B stable enough !

If it is within your budget go for the superclocked version, they are both stable.

Ah but,

Novatech do this one at £186.

Although it does not state its superclocked, its core clock is 675 not 650 and its memory is 1950 not 1900, and it costs less!

EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT KO 512MB PCI Express Graphics Card - Retail (675MHz Core Clock) (1950MHz Memory Clock) (1500MHz Shader Clock)

hmmm, so much choice !

KO from evga is their overclocked card, that is why there is a KO.

I have a geforce 7600gt ko and it overclocks even more well, step up program, lifetime warranty even if you do overclock, and the coolers one evga geforce KO cards seem to be beefier.

It goes SC>KO>SSC.

Other way around Jamie...

These 8800 GT's are like gold dust, can't get them anywhere at the moment, there are pre orders everywhere, and not enough to fill those.:(

Its because Nvidia wanted to release their cards before ATI released theirs so they skimped on the amount of cards they released just to get them on the shelf.

Normal service should be resumed next week hopefully.

At last the GT8800's are in should get mine Wednesday, fingers crossed.

No EVGA's though,so settled for BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC2 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Core running at 675MHz
Memory running at 1950MHz

Cost me a bit more, but its faster :)

Got it. This looks a lot more powerful than my Radeon 9800 card.

Can't build it until next week. Its like waiting to open your xmas presents :)
