Optical drive question

Hi,
I was just wondering if I buy a DVD RW drive, then can I use it to burn DVD's and CD's, and use it to play DVD's and CD's as well? or for playing them do I need a regular DVD player drive?

A DVD-RW will play DVDs and CDs, as well as write DVDs and CDs. :)

and when I make my build, I'll just get one DVD-RW drive instead of a burner and a player :)
