I finished my first build a few weeks ago. I am wondering if my cpu is running too hot.
ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless
AMD X2 6000
9500 Zalman fan with Arctic Silver 5

When my CPU is running both cores pegged at 100% usage my temp, using Core Temp program, one core temp is 68to 69C the other core is 61 to 63C.
This is with the CPU fan at full speed and the case exhaust fan in the middle of 3 positions.

At idle or low usage both temps are in the low 40C. The fans can be set high to or low speed with making much difference.

Do I have a problem? AMD specs for this CPU say 63C is the max temp.

Is the Core Temp program accurate? Are there others that are better programs? The NVMonitor utility that came with the MOBO seems very inaccurate it's readings are 15 to 20C higher then the Core Temp readings.

Thanks,
Peter

Running way too hot mate, core temp is one of the best temp monitors available so i doubt its reading wrong. At those temps you could damage your CPU, AMD's don't have a very high temp threshold.

I guarantee its the cooler, i never recommend it, too many problems.

The Cooler that you have has caused many problems with people on this forum due to a tendency for the contact plates to warp easily under pressure/heat.

You are better off with the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 - great cooling at a great price:

Hi,
I just replaced my 9500 Zalman with a Scythe.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185027

My temps are much lower with the new heat sink. At idle the cpu temp is now in the mid to upper 30s, when both cores are running 100% the temp is in the upper 40s that's about 20 degrees cooler then the Zalman. There must have been a big problem with the Zalman.

Thanks for your help.
Peter
