Am i correct in hearing that the 8800gt is better? I still have time under EVGA step up program. Would it be worth it to switch?

Yeah the GT is a lot better, its only just off the power of a GTX.

Alternatively you could wait till the 19th of November when Nvidia are releasing the new 8800GTS that is almost the same power as an 8800Ultra xxx edition.

well my 8800gts was alot more than the 8800gt so it doesnt step up, they wont give me money back so i may just get one and let my current8800gts be the secondary in SLI mode :) either way i feel abit screwed lol

AFAIK SLI needs to have two identical cards...

I have the same problem mate - I have the 8800GTS 320MB KO edition, which is more expensive than the best 8800GT...

But as Jamie said, they are releasing a new version of the GTS, so there is still hope for us. :D

SLi needs two identical makes, even the same cards together but with different clock speed can cause problems.

Is the 8800gts SSC basically the same card i have now? just super super clocked. I have currently the superclocked 640mb

The SSC has higher clock speeds... again. I think the order is SSC>KO>Superclocked, or something like that.

The names such as Superclocked, KO, SSC ect, imo are nothing more than a ploy by manufacturers and shop owners to bump up the price of a card, in bench testing if you compared the most expensive 8800GTS and the least expensive 8800GTS (640 or 320) then there would be very little difference.

Superclocked gives you the impression the card has been highly overclocked, when all they have done is upped the card memory and Clock speed by 90Mhz, something that is easily achievable with nvidia overclocking software.

:( :( :( :(

Don't feel too down, you still have an excellent card that will kick most other cards 5-ways till sunday. :D

I know what you are going though because I built my last computer 1 week before Intel brought out the C2D and the price of my processor (AMD 4200+) dropped by about £50. :O

I've just received an email from the Step-Up guys at eVGA and they said that I could step-up to the GT as long as I paid the price difference between the cards. So I wrote back, reminding them that the GT was in fact cheaper than the GTS, and they haven't replied yet. XD

Hopefully you will run into some luck mate, let us know what they say :D

Ok, the latest version of the 640MB GTS is available from eVGA now - the SSC edition with 96+ shaders i.e. 112 shaders, but that is not available on the step-up program as it is an overclocked version, which really sucks.

don't it suck lol

Wait, good news - the 8800GT is now available on the step-up program! :D

Might wait for a bit though, as I still have 60 days left before I can trade it in, so I'm going to wait and see how what else is released.

But the stock 8800GT is definitely available for the step-up program, if you want to do it, priced 269 euros or 390 dollars.
