Just to let any budding computer builders out there know that on the 29th of october, Nvidia will be releasing two new cards.

An improved 8800GTS, thought to have 768mb of video memory like the GTX but at a much better price, also some new tweaks and stuff.

Much better though :D is the release of an entirely new card, the 8800GT, this will have 512MB of Video memory and will be cheaper than the 320mb version 8800GTS, and will perform a hell of a lot better.

Also due out at the end of novemebr *crosses fingers* is the 9800GTX, the 9800 says it all really :D

So any computer builders thinking about purchasing an 8800GTS should wait until then as the arrival of the newer more upto date 8800GT will likely mean a rapid decrease in price of the 320mb 8800GTS.

Glad to hear it mate, at least you can play Bioshock now eh lol.

Can you do me a favour and go to this website for me

Can you choose Bioshock and test your system, and see if your system passes.

Cheers :D

Thanks for the info. I'm in the process of purchasing components but I have yet to purchase my graphics card. I was actually leaning towards 8800GTS but now I'll wait. Never could understand why nVidia didn't make a 512mg board available. Do you know if these cards will be available on the 29th or just announced?:)

No, the card will actually be out on the 29th, it will be the same price as an 8800GTS 320mb, but its clock speed will actually be closer to an 8800GTX, so its a bargain.

These are the early 3Dmark06 scores and comparison for the 8800GT, enjoy :D

As can be seen, it easily outpowers the 8800GTS 640MB despite having slightly less memory, and is only a shade under the GTX, which is almost 3 times the price.

And the power consumption tests.

And as can be seen from this is doesn't consume that much power.

I will be placing an order for one asap and will be doing a full review.

Finally did this, and all things pass. I don't meet the recommended though because I am running XP rather than Vista... :S

Did your Video card pass? mine didn't because it doesn't have 512mb lol.

Didn't stop me playing Bioshock on the highest settings with average 35 FPS :D

Same with me actually - I get much higher FPS than that though, probs about 100+. :D
