Saving Energy and lower temp

Hey, is it possible to underclock a computer so all cards are slow and they use less power and are not as hot, so fans can run slower etc? Ex. Laptop

Yeah, you can undervolt CPUs, set the fan speeds manually, reduce the frequency of the GFX card too.

But these won't save you as much energy as switching the computer off instead of having it on standby, or turning the monitor off instead of having a screensaver.

Gah.. i think my computer is dieing with 300 watts of power after i installed a new sound card and a 8500 radeon.

Hah, yeah, installing new stuff does require a new PSU, especially GFX cards.
