Case is good
Motherboard is very good (cheaper option is Asus P5N-E SLi)
PSU is very crap
Ram is very crap
GPU is very crap (it won't play games very well, get a 7900GS)
CPU is overkill (get the Intel C2D E6750)

Newegg is probably the best for components.

You could be a bit more encouraging Jamie... :P

I would recommend Corsair XMS2 RAM - very good quality. For the PSU, you should go for a good brand such as Antec, Hiper, Corsair or Tagan. 700W is probably too much for your system - 550W should be sufficient.

As for the graphics card, I do agree with Jamie on this - the 8600GT is not very good at all. The 7900GS is a very good card at a reasonable price and will play most games out now at max settings.

Hope this helps. :)

Sorry, i was tired lol :D

PSU, Hiper type R, $95 on newegg
Ram, Corsair XMS2, C4 is well cheap on newegg, $60
7900GS is about $180 on newegg, will play anything out now on high graphics without batting an eyelid.

...lol I was about to get the 7900GS since it was on sale on NCIx for 99 bucks.. now it back to the original..

! question, is there shipping fee for newegg since i live Surrey, Bc, incase u don't know ._. it near vancouver.

Hmm.. about my part being shit.. I'm on a buget, it was cheap so ya. u guys also said my power supply was shit so was the ram, can you tell me why? What's the difference.

Btw, i need to lower the cost the system down more, can u offer any other cheap replacment for the part of simlar or slight decrease in porformance.

Edit: I chose this psu because it supported SLi for future need while, for a higher price and lower wattage, the Corsair CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX Triple 12V 50A 24PIN ATX Modular Power Supply 120MM Fan 2X PCI-E<--(just saw this.. so unless this means it does) didn't say it support it.

Edit 2: I plan on sli-ing the graphic card, HDD etc later on so i needed a strong psu

Whats your max budget?

PSU is OCZ, not a very reliable PSU make, would you like to spend a load of money on a system and then have it blow up, i am thinking not ;)

The OCZ Ram is also very prone to errors, especially the Gold version.

The Hiper type R is SLi ready.

The Corsair HX620 is too much, you don't need it, that PSU is for absolute powerhouse computers e.g Core 2 Extreme, 8800Ultra SLi, catch my drift mate, you would be blowing a big chunk of your budget on something you don't need.

I am running SLi in two of my Rigs, i have a Hiper type R for SLi 7900GS's and i have a Corsair HX620 for SLi 8800GTS's.

Unless you were thinking about running 8800GTS's in SLi it is major overkill.

Not sure about shipping to vancouver, i think Tiger Direct deliver there though.

Hmm.. so you're saying the power supply is not needed to be so strong.. Lol, I keep hearing ppl saying other ppl are wasting alot of money on a good system then hae a a shit power supply. I so I thought I needed a stronger one, I think I went overboard. OK this is my new system. Question is, can i muti task with this O.o?

Hey, I got a a different question, is it possible to assign your cores to do spefic task and let the other core to be idle, like converting and have the computer not lag?

Jamie Nixx
10-13-2007, 04:50 PM
No you can't assign tasks to individual cores, you won't get any lag anyway.

You do need a strong PSU, but you chose one that was too strong for your needs, the Corsair HX520 is probably the best PSU in the world, it would easily power a core 2 extreme, 4 harddrives and SLi 8800GTS's as well as the motherboard and optical drives.

Why spend more money than you need to?

The new system looks good, i don't know much about ATI, as i don't use them, but i hear good things about that GPU.

And you want PC6400 Ram not PC5400.

What's the diffrenct between the last 2 ram, and which one to go for? Plus can someone adive a cheap but sufficent graphic card?

Jamie Nixx
10-14-2007, 03:42 AM
The difference between the last two Rams is that one is CL4 and one is CL5.
CL4 is faster.

A cheap or fairly cheap graphical option would be the 7900GS, excellent GPU, i have two in SLi, i picked up a second one cheap on ebay.

Oh and by the way, the motherboard you chose doesn't support SLi, it only supports crossfire, i would update your list again, and change the board to an Asus P5N-E SLi, and save yourself $60.

This is a closeup of my very own Hiper type R, it runs my SLi setup.

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/9042/dsc00504nj1.jpg

And my SLi setup.

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/3361/dsc00505ut0.jpg

Its more than enough to handle these and everything else, so if you want to save yourself some more money go for this.

After looking around, I heard OCZ Reaper Hpc Edition PC2-6400 DDR2 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-15-1T Dual Channel EPP Memory Kit which cost less then the one listed and wise monkey said it was a execlent ram. So, is the cosair worth the Extra dough? (I'm after longevity for my comptuer since i don't get a new computer often

Jamie Nixx
10-15-2007, 07:06 PM
If the OCZ Reaper is cheaper, go for that.

zomg here is a quick rule of thumb that will help out in most, not all, but most situations with ram. With the #-#-#-# thing the lower the number the better in general. However with the PC2-#### the higher the better. DDR 3 memory is available but I wouldn't touch it yet, its too new.

Radeon HD2600XT is a great mid-range card.

If you want best performance (not overclockability) to price ratio get AMD if you want most overclockability then go Intel. Just remember overclocking is very dangerous and voids a lot of warrenties.

zzzzzomg
10-16-2007, 03:30 AM
@Jamie thank for clearing that up for me, so reliable is the same .. sweet.

@Derek
hmm, I see, that' what i read around, but everyone say intel is the generation ahead O.o.. Ok, What would the qualvilant to the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Dual Core Processor LGA775 Conroe 2.66GHZ 1333FSB 4MB Retail
(Yes, I don't overclock)
(may when it's 5 years old to pratic on it)
Thanks.

Jamie Nixx
10-16-2007, 05:31 AM
The E6750, overclocked or not, would would easily outpower an AMD X2 6000, overclock it just a tad, and it would easily outpower an AMD X2 6400, even if at stock speeds it would give the 6400 a run for its money, and that is AMD's highest speed dual core.

Agreed though that performance to cost ratio is very good, but if you have the money, you should buy the best, plus socket AM2 motherboards have very old chipsets whereas socket 775 have the latest ones.

Intel are light years ahead.

The HD2600XT is a good card, but, its main rival, the 8600GTS is a much better card, although you would struggle to play games such as Stalker on these cards or Crysis for that matter, a good 7900GS or X1950 Pro is better.

Hmm.. then i'll just w8 a while more since there so many new stuff coming out eg. Graphic card, AMD and those other stuff.
