I was looking at the Antec Sonata III on a website and it mentioned that it has eSATA and I was wondering what eSATA is and what it's used for?

 yea it's a silly question

God damn noobs and their silly questions ;) :D

eSATA is an external interface for SATA technology.

You know how inside a computer, you have Sata Harddrives and optical drives ect, this is basically SATA on the outside, like SATA external harddrives and things like that.

Its supposed to be replacing firewire and USB 2,0 because its a lot faster.

Hope that little explanantion helps :D

thats cool, then you could just plug in an external hard drive that was sata and you would be good to go. wish mine had that :)

so basically, if i get an eSATA then I don't really need a HDD?

I read somewhere that eSATA was just a faster, portable hard drive
