So I want to build myself a nice PC and have done much reading to find some very nice recommendations. The following build will be very similar to many others, just because I am taking the same advice. I really want an all purpose PC - like most people say, I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do play games occasionally. It is also very possible that I will want to play some of the higher end games in the future..

The problem is, I am currently a college student. What this means is that I have limited income and infinite expenses (maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit). The following build prices out at like $900+, and I'm confident that it will perform decently.

Note - My questions really only cover the video card, PSU, and maybe case/drives. The other stuff is listed to show that I have read everyone else's threads and like to copy other's work, lol.

So here's what I want to know. First off, is the 7900GS video card I have picked out going to be good enough to play most of the games out pretty well? I am not averse to upgrading in the future, as long as this will work well for the time being. Also, I have 3 different PSU's listed - the first is the Corsair which I gather is a good choice. The other's are cheaper PSU's - are they good enough to get me by without trouble or should I stuck with the Corsair? (the cheapest PSU can save me almost 50 bucks).

Basically, I just want to know if there are any modifications I can make that will bring my total down to something a little easier on the eyes because I'm frugal. Keep in mind that I don't need a powerhouse system or ultimate gaming rig, though it will be used for that purpose to some extent.

If you don't want to read all that, here is a summary: Can you tell me again exactly what every other poster wants to know. Thanks for your help.

The 7900GS is a very good card - it can play most things out now on high settings without breaking a sweat, so you don't need to worry about that.

It is always worthwhile spending a bit more on the PSU, because if that breaks then it could destroy other components as well.

As WM said, the 7900GS will handle any game out now on high graphics with ease.

Get the Hiper type R PSU, its $95 on newegg, its not as good as the Corsair, but its still one of the best. The earthwatts is a terrible PSU and the mushkin is........well its a mushkin, the only thing they do well is ram and thats it.

First I don't see a motherboard in your list. I will show you how I would save money. First the case,ram,cd/dvd driver, floppy drive, hard drive,CORSAIR psu, and os all look good to me and total $487 (not included $30 & $20 rebate for ram and psu). Here is the list of other parts I would recommand:
Motherboard:
ASUS P5N-E SLI (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131142&Tpk=N82E16813131142) $119.99
Procesor:
Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 Allendale 2.0GHz (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115014) $134.99
Not as fast as the one you have listed but will get the job done and saves you $60
Graphics Card:
XFX PVT73GUGD3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150182) $119.99 ($30 Rebate)
I don't know enough about graphics card to know if this will play all games but maybe jamie or wise monkey can verify if this will work

All the parts above total $862 (no shipping included)
Total $782 after rebate (no shipping included)

You might have these parts but you will also need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers. The only other parts you could save some money with are psu (go with what jamie recommended), hard drive (but not worth going below 320gb because price difference is small), and video card (depends on games you want to play).
Just my suggestions :)

A 7600GT will play most games out now pretty well, some newer games medium graphics, older games on high.

The E4400 is an excellent CPU, its mega fast, even for gaming.

And i always recommend the P5N-E SLi, excellent motherboard for gaming and its cheap.

Thanks guys! I definitely had the Asus motherboard listed before, I must've accidentally deleted it.

I already have the necessary accessory (say that 10 times fast) items that I would need, so no need for monitor/speakers/mouse/keyboard.

So thanks again, suggestions all look good and I think I may be out of questions.
