vista and x10

Here is another question...

Though I do not currently plan on using vista or x10, I want to have the ability later if I choose. I read people talking about their systems being ready for vista and x10 but I don't really understand it.

I know how to figure out a video cards x10 readiness but what other components must be considered? Is there some feature on the motherboard which makes it vista and x10 compatible?

For that matter, is x10 exclusive to vista?

That would be DX10, DX10 is exclusive to vista and the 8 series of nvidia cards and an ATI card i can't remember the name of.

Windows xp is DX9 as are the 7 series of nvidia cards.

So when looking at a motherboard, is there anything I need to consider with reguards to being ready for vista and dx10?

No problem mate, motherboards will often state that they are vista ready, which is basically all of them, motherboards were vista ready months before it even came out so you should have no problem when upgrading as virtually all mobo's are vista ready anyway.

ati ones are the 2600xt, and the 2900's. the 2600xt is a very good budget dx10 card, can play cnc3 and oblivion and halo2 on max all for about 140 canadian
