hey folks,

I have been reading up and learning about video cards and I have a question. From reading on this forum, Robs site and product reviews, it seems that recommended cards go from 7900 straight to 8800.

What I mean is this: If you are looking for a budget card, geforce 7600 or 7900 is the way to go. If you are not looking for a "budget card", then 8800 gts is the popular choice.

It just seems strange to me that there is such a gap. You can get a good 7900 for around or just over $100 and the cheapest 8800 is somewhere around $280. Why is there such a gap?

I mean, I know that there are plenty of other cards out there That are "advances", it just seems that nobody talks about them.

Its just new technology mate, 8800GTS is DX10 whereas the 7 series of cards is DX9, Nvidia made such a huge jump for Vista and DX10.

When the 7900gt was first released it was over £400 and the 7950GX2 is still about the same price as an 8800GTS.

Its just the way technology works, the 7 series has been out for ages which is why they are so cheap now. The 8 series hasn't been out for very long which is why they are still very expensive.

I guarantee in a years time the 8800GTS will be about £100 over here in the UK, maybe even sooner.

Nvidia are bringing out the 9 series in november  :D
