I already have a good monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824252009
I will have saved $600 by Feb. 08 but I don't know what kind of PC I could build with that *wince*
I wanted something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16883113025
But obviously want to build it myself.
I don't believe I'll be able to build some thing with better performance than just buying these: https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/WishList/TemporaryWishList.asp
would this be a good deal?

Here is the video card: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814127286
And the PC: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16883113025
:) I think this is better than what I could build for $600

OK, I managed to build you a better PC than that for $589. :)
Case and PSU: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811156062
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131032
Graphics: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814122034
Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115030
Memory: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820146526
HD: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822136074
This wishlist I created didn't count the mail-in rebate for the case/psu, so it lists it as $609, but the rebate brings it down to $589.

I'm assuming in 02/08, I'll be able to build a more powerful system. 1 problem though :( the OS I'm running windows 2k and don't even have the CD for it! My friend offered to let me borrow his WinXP CD but aren't there Piracy issues?

Is his CD an illegal copy of windows  i am talking about a ready burned copy with a universal code that can be used over and over again.
I don't like microsoft (not the operating system the company), so i think you know what i am going to say if it is an illegal copy..........

Well it's not an illegal copy. but I heard you could only use one cd per computer
Maybe that was just for XP home? He has professional. idk:confused:

You can install windows on any computer, however many times you want, but you have to register it within thirty days and it can only be registered on one computer, and thats for home.
Windows is not really my area of expertise, but i always thought Pro could be installed on multiple computers which is why businesses use it.
WM works on servers so i think he would have a much better idea of how windows works.
Btw he suggested a good rig for you, my only gripe is the motherboard, i would swap it for the Asus P5N-E SLi motherboard, and a lot of people on this website have built it on recommendations from myself and were really happy with it.
Also, i wouldn't recommend the 8600GT if your going to be running a DX9 operating system.
I would change the mobo, on newegg its $40 more but, it packs a much bigger punch plus it supports the new FSB of the Core 2 Duo and it supports pc-6400 ram.
And it has the 650i nvidia chipset which walks all over the 570i, and its a really future proof board.
And i would change the GPU to a 7900GT or a GS, that way should you wish to game you can play anything you want.

Here are the links to the parts i suggested.

Motherboard

Its entirely up to you mate but just spending the little bit of extra you will have a much more future stable comp and its easily upgradeable, and if you feel the need to play Crysis when it comes out you can lol :D

Thanks guys :) You've all been a great help! I can't wait to start building :D
I think I may wait a little longer to be able to afford vista (I know it's crappy now but it's better than 2k  ) Anyway, by may, I should have $800 to play around with!!!!!!1111!!!!11!oneoneone!!!!!!!!eleven!!!!!! !!!!22.
Thanks alot guys and good luck with ur rigs :D
One more question: How do you guys feel about Tiger direct? Newegg's service CANNOT be beat but Tiger sometimes has better deals and selection. Thoughts?

Me an WM are in the UK, but i have a lot of American friends, they have said newegg is the best by far, i always felt tigerdirect were expensive and thats saying something considering how cheap parts are in the US.
Only SOMETIMES tdirect has better deals, but they are few and far between.
I would just stick with newegg :)

The version of Windows doesn't matter, its the license key that is the problem - it can only be registered once afaik.
Some organisations, like where I work, have a Volume License Key, which allows you to install Windows on lots of different computers with the same key; I've done this so many times that I know that license key by heart. :)
Yeah, you might wanna go for the parts that Jamie suggested - I meant to suggest that mobo but misread the item description. XD

Everyone laughs at my Raidmax Smilidon, but I got 4 case fans and a 500w psu (still works, it's been 2 months--I would say I got my 2 months) for $90, granted the above aren't of highest quality, but still. When I bought my first build, I shopped both Tiger Direct and Newegg. Tiger Direct had cheaper prices on some of the components, but overall, it was cheaper with newegg. I could've mixed and matched to save like $10, but the items would've come in on different dates and I had to take off work early to wait for the UPS man, so I decided it wasn't worth it.
