Correct CPU fit?

Hi,

I have the below CPU (see image).

I bought the AMD Phenom X4 9850B Quad-Core 2.5GHz 2M 95W Socket AM2 AM2+ HD985BWCJ4BGH to replace this. But the pins did not seem to fit and I ended up bending some pins when installing it.

So my questions is, should this of fit, was it just me being clumsy? So did I buy the wrong CPU?

Sorry for the silly question - I'm new to all this!
