The mother board supports DDR3 2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2600(O.C.)/2500(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333

Is it worth trying to go after the higher end 2800 or go with the lower more economical sticks?

I apologize for the late reply on this post. You will probably be able to 'overclock' into the mid 4 Ghz range. I think you should use RAM beyond 1600 to best support the higher operating cpu frequency. Will give some more comments on this topic tomorrow.

Below is information about your motherboard choice and the RAM that may be used with it. I will give you the data and then below the data, I will make some comments about the data. The nature of the data tells me I will need to call Asus tomorrow and get clarification or certainty regards the choice of the RAM. It is not confusing, but the data has a somewhat different format that what I am used to seeing, so I want to clear that up.

Both pages are identical as far as I can tell; the only difference should be that each page is on a server in different locations somewhere in the world. The data appears to be the same (I will look over the data again to be certain and do another post if either of the pages is different, one from the other.)

Now what do the pages mean? As best I can count them, there are 13 pages going from RAM frequencies of DDR3 1333 all the way up to DDR3 3000. DDR3 2800 is three pages back from the last page.

Since you can potentially overclock to about 4.5 GHz, I assume you should get the RAM that ASUS says will work on your motherboard choice, and that would be the DDR3 2800 RAM as shown on the last page. There are 14 choices. The RAM listings go as high as DDR3 3000 (2 pages beyond the DDR3 2800).

Since Asus lists RAM at DDR3 2800, 2933 and 3000, I think you should use one of the three, maybe even 3000 -- but I want to talk to Asus first -- assuming I can reach them here in the US, I will do it tomorrow and do a follow up post.
