I've been considering purchasing a second harddrive to run in RAID 0. My motherboard provides instructions on how to setup RAID, but I don't know how to prep my old harddrive to do so. Does anyone know of any links on how to remove everything from my system so I can begin the setup? Are the performance benefits of RAID 0 worth the trouble?
I don't know about the setup, but I would say RAID is only worth it if you're doing some serious amount of hard drive accesses. The typical PC user would not find a significant performance benefit. You might do better going with a single, newer drive (cloning over the old hard drive) or using a Western Digital Raptor drive.

afaik, you can set up a RAID array without wiping your old HD. This may only apply to RAID 1, so don't quote me on that. :)
