Hi there. I'm trying to help a friend replace his 10 year old Gateway. He was looking at this Dell for $840 + tax from the "Scratch & Dent" section of the Dell outlet site:
Studio XPS 9100
Processor: Intel Core i7-930 Processor (8MB L3 Cache, 2.8GHz)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
Studio XPS 9100 Desktop
500 GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
6 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz (3 DIMMs)
6X Blu-ray Writer
16X DVD+/-RW Drive

I told him to save a couple hundred dollars and do something like this:

Does this look OK for the money? They want it to last another 10 years. Do I need to get a CPU cooler? I realize the passmark is better on the i7, and the discreet GPU in the Dell is better than the integrated one with the A8, but wouldn't that be overkill for his needs? Also, will the MOBO I chose do dual monitors for multi-tasking?
