This is a suggestion for the main site, but I think also deserves some attention on the forum. Solid state drives are now moving past the leading edge and into mainstream, at least for system builders. The prices have been dropping significantly, and you can now routinely find deals for top-rated 120+ GB drives for $100 (for example, the Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" SATA III SSD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442) for $99.99 (http://www.buy.com/prod/crucial-m4-128gb-2-5-sata-iii-solid-state-drive-ssd/221150373.html)). This is sufficient for the OS and apps for virtually any user, and is not a budget-buster. For those of us who are not hardcore gamers (OK, maybe I am the only one...), this might be the most significant upgrade in performance and user experience. And even for the rest, it may be a desirable boost in user experience.

When I mentioned in preparation for my latest build (http://forums.mysuperpc.com/showthread.php?4624-Build-2-This-time-it-s-for-real) that one of my goals was a "zippy feel", an SSD was probably the right prescription. But I hadn't really done any research at the time and never considered it. Now, prices have dropped further, but the situation is complicated by the fact that I would need to migrate from my current drive rather than the clean install for a new system. This is why it would be nice if an upgrade scenario were covered as well, at least in the forum if not the main site.

I've been doing a lot of reading and research into this, but it would be really nice for this site to have that, and I really think it ought to in order to remain current.

I think your suggestion is excellent. How about you writing up what you think is needed and let those who want to critique it submit their comments and suggestions, ask questions, etc.!
