How do you set this up? Install the OS on the SSD and everything else on another drive? If so, does this just speed up boot-up and nothing else? I've had partitioned drives before, and I found that kind of annoying. Some things don't give you the option of what drive to install to, they just go right to the C drive. Or, if I wanted to have some of my most-used applications work faster, would I install those as well? Just curious at this point.

Yes. Generally, people will install the OS on the SSD and use the large mechanical drive for storing pictures, videos, large file like documents or power point presentations. If the SSD is large enough, you can install programs on it too. I would want MS Office on the SSD and any other software that I use regularly. If you use something like Photoshop, you may want to put that on the SSD.
Does that help or make sense?

Yes, thanks. I'm a little tempted to take the plunge and try it out with something like this Corsair Force Series 3 2.5" 60GB SATA III Internal SSD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233223). But I think I'll hold off for now.

This is from the OCZ website, but still very useful and good general information. Check it out here (http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/content.php?306-SSD-ABC-Guide).
