The review I've read is that the stock fan with the i5 doesn't do the trick especially when overclocked. Does anyone have a suggestion for or success with an alternative fan or cooling source that will work better?

If you plan to overclock, then you'll certainly want to invest in a better cooler. Check out the Cooler Master Hyper 212. Excellent cooler and very reasonably priced.

I'm currently running this Zalman CNPS9500 cooler. It's made out of pure copper and has a variable rpm speed form 1500rpm to 2650rpm. I have mine configured mine by using the 3 pin connector on the motherboard and with that I am recording core temperature's around 30 degrees Celsius at idle. When using Realtemp at 100% load (under their load tester) I am recording core temps of 45 43 43 42.
