Is this possible? If so how?
I have all these old tapes of movies that I would like to watch, but the TV died and I watch it so seldom now that I don't really want to replace it.
Thanks~

Maybe something like this.

OK, so it is possible to connect a VCR to the PC. But does that mean that I have to convert the tapes to DVD format to watch them?
Just seems I can't get my head around what the ads are telling me.
Thanks Ricky

What type of monitor do you have? Maybe you can hook the VCR to the monitor directly depending on the type of input is has. You can probably find converter boxes on eBay.

My monitor is an Acer 22" wide screen flat panel, as far as I can tell there are just the regular connections for the PC.

I have one of these...http://www.honestech.com/main/vhs-to-dvd-50-deluxe.asp. I think its along the same lines as what Ricky suggested but comes with a nice software package to do the recording and conversion to digital containers. And if I remember right you can watch the old tape directly through in a proprietary player.
Another option of course is TV capture card. I have a Hauppauge PVR-1600 that I am almost certain allows external input watching right in Windows Media Center.
