My old laptop finally died a week or so ago so ive decided i finally want to build my own system. I have moderate computer hardware knowledge but i have consulted my brother and roommate who have both done their own builds. Neither of them are experts by any means but they have experience with building systems and my roommate is going to help me put the system together when i get it. I decided to come here to get some expert opinions and guidance on my first build. I am looking to build a budget system for around $600. I am a college student, i wont be doing any intense video editing or rendering, i do multitask some having a few applications and tabs open at once but nothing crazy, i am looking to do some casual gaming- mainly just playing some tf2 but i am not looking to play on max graphics, i am fine with med graphics, i care alot more about frame rate than graphics so im not looking to spend too much on a graphics card. More than likely not looking to do any overclocking. I want to make sure my build is going to be able to be upgraded relatively easily in the next few years if i wish. I already have Windows 7 64-Bit, a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
Here is the build i have came up with so far:
Case: Antec 300 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042
Power Supply: Antec NEO ECO 400C 400W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371029
Motherboard: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131631
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311
Graphics Card: ASUS EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 6670 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121442
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769
CD/DVD: ASUS 24X DVD Burner - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204
Card Reader: Rosewill RCR-IC001 40-in-1 USB 2.0 3.5" Internal Card Reader - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820223103
I plan to order all parts from Newegg unless someone suggests otherwise. With Rebates the total comes to right around $600, right where i want it to be but i still have questions and want to get second opinions and suggestions any of you may have.
Questions:
1. Is the 400w Power Supply sufficent to power the build?
2. Would anyone suggest a different Mobo that may cost a little less that has a better price/performance ratio?
3. Is there another Graphics card in the $100 range that someone would suggest instead of the one i listed?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
