Hi all,

I'm looking to build my first computer here soon, and was wondering if you could look over the parts I'm considering and see if you see any potential issues or recommendations for alternate parts.

The parts I'm looking at are:

CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020)
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131730)
COOLER MASTER Storm Sniper (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119194)
MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127565)
Intel Core i7-2700K Sandy Bridge (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115095)
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314)
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284)
ASUS 24X DVD Burner (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204)
D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme Desktop Adapter (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127218)

And any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Eric

That's an awesome build. I wouldn't change a thing.

Good morning Errhoss,

About the same time Ricky posted, I was about to give a similar comment as Ricky's. It does look like a good build. I do have one exception and that is the wireless transceiver. You will be sitting at the point at which the transceiver sends out and receives signals. There will be a 'defined radiation pattern' around the transmitting antenna, and I assume you will be within that 'defined radiation pattern'. My position on this is 'that it is foolish, particularly at a relative young age, to expose yourself to unnecessary 'electromagnetic radiation' particularly when you are close to the source and when you may sit in the area close to the source for extended periods.

Here is a link to some articles on the subject (I always look to the Swedes and Europe in general for a so called early or first alert to a radiation hazard): http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=&q=wireless+transmission+hazards+swedish+comments&btnK=Google+Search&rlz=1W1ADRA_enUS462&oq=&aq=&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=

The Europeans relate this radiation hazard to one similar to 'smoking'. I was shocked at first by such a statement. But what the statement means, is that the 'consequences' are not known for years, and, when they are known (years later), it is too late to do anything about it, health wise.

I personally have lots of experience in the understanding of x-ray hazards. RF transmissions (radio frequency) are part of the electromagnetic spectrum as are x-rays. The early use of 'analog' cell phones seemed to be linked to brain tumors. My personal opinion is that there are logical reasons to stay away from 'wireless' if at all possible!

I am simply saying that I would hope you would only use 'wireless' if it is really impossible to do 'wired'.

Thanks RickyTick and zburns for looking at it, I'm looking at probably going to go ahead and order it tomorrow. After some more consideration, I have made a few changes though. I decided to switch the HD to a SSD (this one Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442)), and I switched to more ram (this one CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233143)).

Oh and zburns you'll be happy to know that your comment about the wifi card made me realize that the router was on the same wall as my desktop, just one floor up, so I just ran a wire to my desktop and won't be ordering the wifi card.

Best decision you could have made.

Pretty solid build if it fits your budget! What do you use your PC for?
