Is it imprtant to use the QVL for the motherboard for memory

Thats the question ,The list is so restrictive they seem to make a new memory model every day.

I've used ram several times that was not on the QVL and it ran just fine. As long as it meets the specs of the motherboard it should work perfectly. However, if you have a "ram issue", the mobo manufacturer will blame the ram for any problems. You could always contact the mobo manufacturer and tell them what ram you would like to use and see if they recommend it.

Alternatively, you can check the RAM manufacturer's website. Most have details on what motherboards are supported and it is usually more comprehensive.
