New and need some help

I'm Wes and I'm a 3d modeling/texture student. I'm a senior and would like to build a rig to use after I graduate this spring. I'm very new to this sort of thing and some of it is a bit confusing. So basically I'm going to need something that can run maya, photoshop to start and possibly add on zbrush or mudbox and maybe aftereffects and premiere pro. I read the posting under this one and learned about the sandy bridge so I'm thinking about going that way. So heres what I've put together so far.

I'm confused about all the numbers that go along with the motherboards and graphics cards. I would like to keep this under 2 grand. So if I could get some help picking out the rest of what I need I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I'd be happy to offer some advice. Are you also planning on this being a gaming rig?

no sir, this will be strictly for 3d projects. I have a console for games

If you're not a gamer, than that Full-tower case is a lot more than you need. Unless you just really like the looks of it. Don't get me wrong, it's a great case.

You shouldn't dump a lot of money in a video card either. Invest money in a feature rich motherboard, and a lot of ram.

Awesome the more money I save the better, I still have to find a monitor and other items as well. I really appreciate the help and recommendations. I'm sure I'll be back when I start putting all this together, nothing ever works the 1st time for me.

I know this is a stupid question but I'm assuming that the cables that hook all this together dont come with it, they are extra?

And whats a good way to really find out about all this stuff? I bought some books on how to build comps years ago but of course they are outdated in no time.

All the cables should be included with all these components. You'll find the motherboard manual to be the most useful.

Well I got all my parts the other day and have started but I'm come to a standstill. I used a case that I bought years ago and I dont think the connectors are going to work with it. The blu ray drive is sata cables only and the harddrive has both as well as a 8 pin plug. Needless to say my power supply wont fit. I did find this one on new egg and I'm hoping it will fix my issues.
