This system will be used for Photoshop – editing larger images (now 20 Mb
each). Other apps are standard business stuff. No games. No overclocking.
Quiet operation is a big deal for me - it is a quiet area now! Reusable parts:
2 monitors, SATA drives, SATA DVD, and KB, mouse, etc.

This is my to-buy list.

ASUS P8Z68-V LX motherboard

Antec EarthWatts Green EA-430D PSU

Intel core i5-2400 CPU

Corsair Vengence 2x4GB, DDR 3 1600

Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced CASE

The total comes to about $500 - I'm OK with that. So, what do you think? Add, delete, substitute... Thanks for your feedback.

Looks good, but would it be possible to step up to the i5-2500 or a ram kit of 4x4gb? It's not totally necessary, but it would certainly help with loading and editing images that large.

I will have 2 vacant memory slots available if I want to expand to 16 gb at a later date. I'm not seeing the value in going from the i5-2400 to the 2500. A minor speed upgrade?

Only value is raw processing power. The i5-2400 is very capable.
