Hello there, im looking for some help as its a confusing subject with a ton of guides but I know how quick it moves!

Im looking for a computer that will play the recent MMO's/Decent games. Ill say below what Im looking for (ideally). I want to know wheres best to start, should I be building a computer from scratch (id like to, but money talks), or buying a cheap one and upgrading?

Im also new to building. I have common sense and a willingness to learn, but nothing else!

Heres what I am looking to achieve, essentially with the computer equivalent of last seasons clothes, still good, but cheap now! :P

What I want..(hopefully)...with any relevant questions.

PC: A fast Pc, that plays games, media and has a decent harddrive. Ugradable in the future is a must. (if thats a good idea). My laptop atm is awesome, but you cant upgrade much in that! But with Pc...as i understand? You can do it bit by bit.

Price: £450 or less Really if possible. Dont mind waiting on optionals like optical drives, and dont mind scouring round for bargains, there is no rush.

Size: I hear you can get smaller components and things to fit it all in a smaller case. Would be nice if it is smaller, but not essentially if more expensive. Clueless here.

Power Consumption: Is this a big issue with self built pc's? I hear they can consume hundreds of £'s of electric over the year?

Processor: Would really like it very quick...who wouldnt?

Graphics: Needs to be good enough to run the latest good games. Not ultra high end. Just a decent Graphics card. I only intend to play MMO's and lighter games such as that.

Ports: Needs HDMI Ports, Im looking for this on my graphics card right? Apart from that, standard jazz.

Harddrives: Around 500gb.

Internet: Needs to be wireless really. I need a seperate card for this?

OS: Ideally Windows 7. Vistas crap. But they cost a bomb dont they? As with a normal laptop for example, it comes with it. Is there a way round the price? How useful is linux for a user like me. Is there a cheaper route to windows?

Future: Needs to be upgradable ideally. And would prefer to wait, and buy something that will last, than cheaper stuff that will break.

Any information or help gratefully received.
