I'm fresh out of highschool, just got my first programming job, this is the first thousand dollars I've ever earned. It did not come easy. I'm planning on running Linux(I'll try out a couple flavors) and just a little bit of windows. Mostly I'll be using this set for coding and CAD with blender, but I'll also want to watch and edit HD movies and do a bit of heavy gaming. Please let me know if you can think of anything that is unnecessary, crappy, or incompatible, or if there's anything else I should consider in order to make this computer run amazingly. Thank you so much in advance :)

Just from a gaming standpoint, I don't care much for a wireless mouse and kb. That's not to say that it won't work just fine, but there's always a chance of some wireless stutter or signal loss right in the middle of a frag fest.

You could run Ubuntu, and add Wine to it for some Windows compatibility.
