Best way to buy Windows xp pro for new build?

I noticed on newegg you can get an OEM version of windows xp pro for $140 and the retail version is $290. Is it smart to buy the OEM version?

I don't want to have trouble if I decide to reformat/clean install my new machine in a few months.
