First ever build...

So, I've always had my laptop but I'm just ready to move to a desktop. I'm trying to make the best I can with as little as possible. This is my first ever build/attempt at doing so, and I would really like some guidance.

Nice choice in cpu. This is the "K" version which has the unlocked multiplier for overclocking. If you don't plan to overclock, then just go with the regular 2500, and save the money.

An expensive motherboard. There are many out there that are just as good for a lot less.

Cases are cases. It's hard to get excited about them. If you like that one, then go for it.

The Intel cpu will come with it's own heatsink/fan. The only reason to get an aftermarket cooler/heatsink is if you plan on overclocking, and this particular model is not going to be adequate for that. If you think you need a cooler, this is a much better option.

The VGA cable will basically be to plug into the back of the PC, and run into the back of my TV, to use the TV as my monitor. Mostly to cut back on buying a monitor, and I rarely use my TV other then for for a couple hours of Xbox/a late night movie. Thank you so much for the reply. So that knocks out the Heatsink/Cooler.. Money in my pocket. I chose the processor/motherboard for the ability to be able to overclock, IF i decided to in the long run. Thank you so much for your help :D

Isn't that VGA cable used for splitting to two different monitors?

If the TV has an HDMI input, then the video card that I linked to (and the one you linked to) has an HDMI connector that would make is much easier.

Point taken, .. I think I mixed up the two cables.. At least someone is paying a bit more attention then I am. =p
