My first foray into building from scratch begins with, I presume, the motherboard. I would like the motherboard to have a pair of redundant RAID drives for data (I know little of RAID, but presume RAID 1 is the one I am looking for. Do motherboards give you a choice?), but the primary drive should be a smaller Solid State Drive. That way, start up can be faster and data backups easier. Can anyone foresee a problem with this type of setup? Can it be set up this way, or must the RAID drives be the primary drives if it uses the RAID controller on the motherboard? And if does a RAID controller on a motherboard lose some of it's functionality by by being on the motherboard instead of having it's own controller card? Can anyone recommend a board that would be able to do this and have USB 3.0 support? I am not a gamer and probably will only put an Intel i5 processor in it.
