Hello all,

The timing could not have been better for me to stumble across this site.

I am putting together an order to build the PC indicated "my super computer" and have a few questions.

Would this case be a better substitute ? It has a higher power supply
and they mention something about USB 3.0 connectors at the front of case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129099
same mfg is one in article.

Would this CPU be better. It's slightly cheaper. Could be on sale
where the one mentioned in SuperPC article was not??
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211

The memory picked out are 2GB each. A total of 4 sticks to get the 8GB
Would it be wise to purchase a larger size memory stick, for example
3 or 4GB stick allowing additional memory slots to be available if more memory
is needed??
Could you help by picking out the right larger memory stick? I am not sure
where it makes no sense for more memory. I am considering Windows 7
and want to use download programs like Vuze. Vuze with my existing dual core
3GHz with 2gigs of PC6400 DDR2 ram is brought to it's knees running this
program. I mean like 50-90% cpu usage. The computer is just about useless
for anything else.

I want to use this computer for video streaming from movies on my hard drive to my Samsung Blu ray,
TV etc, (using ethernet)
or to any other computer on the LAN or over the internet.

Welcome to the forums.

That's a very good price on the i7-950, but at this point I'd suggest a totally different setup. Intel's newest cpu's called Sandy Bridge would be much better.

Also keep in mind, our recommended build list here is a couple of months old.

I was getting excited about building a new PC but after your comment
I wonder should I wait for the next generation super PC ??
I also noticed Newegg does not sell the Gigabyte mother board and
they have a comment stating they may not be restocking it.

I would say it's time for a new Super PC and the sooner the better
cause I am hot to buy.

Hope this happens soon

No. The next generation is already here. Sandy Bridge is the latest and greatest. If you're ready to build, now is the time.

This looks like a killer however this would kill my pocket book.

I would like to state I am not a gammer but would like a computer that I can
use Vuze with and while it's downloading stream from Vuze or from any
folder on my PC to my Blu Ray thanks to DLNA complaint products.
Maybe burn a DVD at the same time too along with surfing. All at
the same time would be worse case. I would like the video card to
have a HDMI output. Also curious if any video cards have HDMI inputs
along with other video type inputs.

The problem now is my existing PC runs to close to 100% CPU just running
Vuze.

I have a 3.0GHz Intel CPU dual core (not dual core 2) with 2Gigs of PC6400 ram.
I have 2 640Gigs sata hard drives.

I need to stay at or under $1000

Is this possible?

Thanks for all your help.

Ken

By any chance did you read the article in the latest MAXIMUM PC (APRIL) page 9 ?
The title is: Intel Asks for Do-over on Sandy Bridge Chipset.
It states Intel hit a stop button on all 6-series chipsets after it confirmed
that the chipset's SATA ports could degrade over time.

That has already been addressed by Intel and the motherboard manufacturers. It's ok now.
