I'm a first time builder, and don't know hardly anything about computer components. But from what I seen in this forum, there are a lot of people who do.
I started looking at components for my first computer and have decided on the following:
Cpu - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
Mobo - Asus-P5B Deluxe

What I am looking for now is a tower case and power. I don't see any reason not to get a full size case if I have room. Is there something I'm missing here? So I'm looking for a full size case that may have its own power supply of at least 500 W. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

I have a black and a silver coolermaster cavalier case it's one of the coolest looking cases made. Cool running and quiet as a church mouse. The choice of cpu, video card and mother board will have more to do with your choice of PSU (power supp unit) in terms of power consumption so the best bet would be to drop around 60 bucks extra on a good 600-650 wt power supply I don't use pre installed PSU that come with cases. They can be unreliable.

Unless you get a case such as EZcool which comes with its own branded power supply, most cases come with their own generic power supplies which are prone to blowing up and taking half you computer with them.

Whats your budget for the case and power supply and then i can advise you more :D

As far as a budget for the case and power supply, case about $100 - $200, the ps about $75 - $150.
So far my other components are Core 2 Duo E6750 processor, Asus P5B Deluxe mobo, and a GeForce 8800GTS video card.
I've read good things about the Thermal Take Armor VA 800 BWS case as well as the Antec 900 case. Will both of these fit the 8800GTS card?

Thanks

I have the 900, its much better than the armor (i have that as well:) ) and it will fit anything inside it.

Since your going to have an 8800GTS your going to need a power supply over 600w.

Hear are some good brands

Hiper
Antec
OCZ
Tagan
Zalman

Jamie,
Thanks for the heads up on the power supply, I'll go 700 W or higher with one of the vendors you mentioned.
I noticed on the Antec 900 spec it doesn't list an external 3.5" drive bay. However, it mentions a 3.5" floppy drive will fit in the 5.25" drive bay in the overview. Have you tried this?

Hi mate. here is a pic that should give you an idea of how to put the floppy drive in.

Basically the case comes with a custom metal mest front for the floppy so it matches the mesh front :)

Oh and sorry mate, i couldn't resist :p

I highly recommend stalker lol.

If you want anymore pics of the case just say and i'll post some more.

The 3.5 adapter plate looks easy enough. Thanks. And I'll go read about the Stalker game.

Actually, it might be a good idea to have a "rig pictures" section/thread where we can show off our comps.

I personally have the Thermaltake Tsunami case, and its excellent.

Good luck with the rest of your build. :)
