Wide Scrren Monitor

What are the benefits of a wide screen monitor,for gamers in particular, if any?

I don't know that there are any. I keep up with computer games fairly well, and I haven't noticed in reading reviews a mention of using a wide screen monitor for some reason. Console games, such as for Xbox or Xbox 360, often support a wide-screen mode that gives a wider field of view and makes the game more enjoyable by making the experience more immersing. I don't know how widespread that is with PC games.

Still, widescreen monitor prices are reaching attractive price points, so it might be tempting to give it a try. If you plan to use the monitor at native resolution, make sure the video card supports it.
