alright so i've finally seen the light, and it is time to ditch my crappy macbook pro. i've gotten a lot of great info so far from this website and just want to clarify my parts before i go into building process. my main reason for building is gaming, i play on a 27 inch monitor. this is the mac led display and i have an adapter for it, but if you know whether or not that would be problematic please let me know. I want to hopefully run 30+ fps at 1920x1080 i guess. anyways here are the parts i've chosen, prettty sure they're all compatible i just want to make sure that they will perform up to standards im looking for as i am not very tech savvy. thanks in advance

Looks to be a solid build that should play all games at very high (or max) settings. I don't know about using a Mac display though.

Have you considered the new Sandy Bridge platform?

Awesome, thats just what I wanted to hear! :D
And Yeah, that's been a nagging factor from when I started looking into this a couple of weeks ago. It seems to me though that if I can build this system it should run pretty darn fast, the only issue I can foresee is whether or not I would be able to upgrade to a SandyBridge platform in the future. Would that be compatible with the components that I listed above, or is it going to require a whole new mobo and the works? And yes, the Mac display will be a bit iffy, but if worst comes to worst I have an old monitor I could use. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a monitor that would be compatible though?

Upgrading to SB would require a new motherboard and probably ram too, as well as a new windows license.

There's a lot of good monitors out there. Samsung, Asus, and Dell are all good.
