It turns out to be about 900-1000 dollars I believe. I plan on using it to be able to play games on a 20-23 inch monitor and hopefully top quality graphics. I was just wondering where i could cut down costs. I also plan to use this at 4gz OC, but leave the graphics card alone.

I think I also need a thermal paste or something of the like. I will be running linux because right now the cost of this computer is as far as my budget stretches.

Any advice? Like if I should change to i5-2500K because its better for only 20$ more? or a better combination of items or a cheaper build for basically the same settings?

Not a lot of places to make cuts. You could go with 4gb of ram instead of 8, or maybe a smaller HD. That might save you about $50.

If you load Linux, don't plan on doing much gaming.

The Hyper 212 comes with thermal paste. You shouldn't need more.

I like my hd size.
what's wrong with gaming with linux? I thought it was fine with a few adjustments.

So I guess no thermal paste.

I guess it depends on what games you want to play. Most Linux games are open-source or indie games. You won't find many "big name" games out there.

It's mostly crysis and SCII.
hmm i guess I could get windows 7 for $65 dollars as a students. I'll think about it.

Do you think my build will be able to handle 24/7 4GB OC. or is it better to get sandy bridge

Would a 23 inch monitor be too big for the graphics card I am getting?

You may be able to run Crysis on Linux. I'm not sure about Crysis 2.
