I have a evga geforce 7600gt is this better then the 7900gs?

Also,

When talking about RAMS I always thought that the mhz of RAM was half your FSB? And what makes a ram better then another ram module, I mean the latency, and other stuff?

thanks Im tired but still newbie.

It depends on the 7900GS but all of them are still more powerful than a 7600GT, even two 7600GT's run in SLI wouldn't equal the power of one 7900GS.

About the Ram. Overclocking is a good way to increase the performance, but ram becomes highly unstable if you tamper with it.

I did a lot of research about RAM when I built my first PC (quite a while ago now) and found several salient points:

1. Lower latency is better than higher MHz. What I mean by this is that some PC2-5300 with a latency (CL) of 2 will out-perform some PC2-8500 CL5. Bear this in mind when buying RAM. Unfortunately, lower latency RAM is also more expensive.

2. Can your motherboard support the RAM you want to buy? If you do decide to buy some PC2-8500, can your mobo support it? Most modern boards only go up to PC2-6400, so you may need to do some extra research as to whether or not you will be using the RAM to its poential.

Hope this helps. :)

7900gs at any rate of mem

In most cases it is half but were now dealing with ddr or in some cases ddr2 or the numbers will doudle or quaduple even. My cpu is a 64bit amd 3200+ at1600mhz my memory is ddr 400 pc3200 check the math and it evens out.
It's best to stick with what your board will allow as far as future upgrades go I always look to the future. Most of the technicals such a latency only need apply to extream gaming for money or high numbers computation in my opinion.
