Hey Guys,

I am a noob to pc building but decided to do it. I just have a few questions regarding the build. I was originally going to stick with "my super pc" recommendations, but then happened upon the forums and noticed the builds by Rickytick and decided to change a few things. So far my configuration looks like this:

Case COOLER MASTER RC-692-KKN2 CM690 II Advanced

Power Supply CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W

CPU Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz
Video Card EVGA 01G-P3-1373-AR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) Superclocked

Hard Drive Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

Ram Gskill 4gb x 2

My questions are:

1. Should I change motherboard
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 to
EVGA P55 FTW 200 SLI 141-LF-E658-KR LGA 1156 Intel P55?
(one concern that I had was that I've read in reviews that the evga mobo does not work with the 4gb cards)

2. Should I change the graphics card fom the gtx 460 to the gtx470?

3. I'd also like to hear your thoughts on whether or not an SSD drive is worth it at this time
Thanks in advance

Oh and btw pc to be used for moderate gaming and minimal video editing.

I'm still of the opinion that SSD's just aren't worth it at this point.

I like your build, but the P55 system is a generation old now. Take a look at the P67 based sytems. There are some current issues with it, but if you can wait a few weeks they'll have it all worked out. I think it'll be worth the wait.

The GTX460 is probably the best "bang for the buck" video card out there. Make sure you're looking at the 1gb version and not the 7689mb. Also take a look at the new GTX560 Ti. It's a little more expensive, but worth it if you do a lot of gaming.

Hey, thank you for your advice. Ironically enough, I was all set to buy the i5 2500k along with the asus P8p67 pro when the issues with the sandy bridge models came out. I can wait for the fix, and hopefully the prices of some of the other components will come down too. Looks like April is when the fix is supposed to come. I will let ya know how things work out.
Thanks again.

Start monitoring your favorite online stores and watch for the case, power supply, ram, and hard drive to go on sale. There's always some kind of "special" going on. You have the luxury of some time, so take advantage of it and catch some of these items on sale.
