First time builder help - I connected the motherboard, processor, RAM, video card. I hooked up the monitor, mouse and keyboard. I connected the 8-pin and 24-pin on the MoBo to the power supply.
When I flip the switch for the Power Supply, nothing happens - no sounds, no lights. I'm connected to a power strip and I'm running my monitor off the same strip, so it seems to have power.

Is there something I should check before I chalk it up to a bad PSU?

So I tried the paper clip method on the power supply and the fan on it started running so I know that it isn't completely DOA. Other things I can try???

Did you press the power button on the front of the case?

Yeah, so that was basically it (sheepish grin)...
I didn't make the connections for all of the front panel support, and when I saw that wire dangling, it dawned on me. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm now moving forward - first boot was successful, second one as well, and now we're onto Windows 7 install.
The only thing I noticed was that I never heard the audible beep when the MoBo powered on - not sure if that's an issue or not...
